Be The Change
Empowerment. Inclusion. Growth.
La Passerelle has proudly partnered with Louis Byrne—award-winning hairstylist, artist, activist, and founder of the groundbreaking empowerment movement I Can I Am and I Will (#ICIAIW).
This collaboration is rooted in a shared vision: to ignite self-belief, inspire identity ownership, and drive real change.
Embedding Empowerment Into Education
Louis Byrne, our official Ambassador for Inclusion, Equality and Diversity, has worked closely with our team to embed the ICIAIW manifesto into the school’s ethos, vision, and daily practice.
Through dedicated wellness sessions, reflective journaling, and guided self-development, we’re nurturing confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence in our students.
The 13-week programme—supported by CYPES and aligned with NASEN outcomes—is immersive, flexible, and built to create lasting impact. Reflection and personal growth don’t stop at the end of the course; for many, this becomes a way of life.
Creating Space for Change
We’ve created protected time in the school day for students to pause, reflect, and reset. Using the #ICIAIW Journal, learners develop strategies to navigate challenges, build life skills, and express their feelings with clarity and respect.
This isn’t just about education. It’s about transformation—empowering young people to step into who they are, who they want to be, and how they want to show up in the world.
Wellbeing in Action
The ICIAIW Wellbeing Day brought the movement to life in a bold and meaningful way.
In partnership with Jersey Surf School and Jersey State School, Louis Byrne hosted a transformative day by the sea—combining nature, empowerment, and mindset work.
The day included:
Surf lessons to connect with the ocean and overcome personal limits
Meditation sessions to support mindfulness and calm
A student-led wellbeing and mindset focus group, encouraging open discussion and honest reflection
Activities to help students identify and embrace their own unique superpowers
The experience empowered students to reconnect with their bodies, their minds, and each other. The event was proudly covered by BBC News and Radio, amplifying the message across the island and beyond.
Beyond the School Gates
Louis’s message reaches far beyond the classroom. Working with communities on and off the Island, his mission is clear:
“Feel pride in who you are. Seek clarity. Rediscover and reconnect.”
Together with Sarah Anderson Rawlins, the ICIAIW programme has supported children and adults across the UK—especially those with SEMH needs—through poetry, creative expression, and courageous conversations.
A Movement with Momentum
Born from personal transformation after a life-altering accident in 2018, I Can I Am and I Will is Louis Byrne’s powerful response to adversity, addiction, and trauma. What began as a mantra is now a movement—backed by coaching, science, and the momentum of lived experience.
From Vogue to The Big Issue, Nike to ITV’s Lorraine, Louis Byrne’s message continues to inspire.
Empowering. Inclusive. Impactful.
